Halloween Beer - Part 6

Well it's not really a Halloween beer, but it does have a skull and crossbones on it! The Nelson brewery from Chathan do a whole range of beers with nautical themes, and in my opinion, this one wins the best label design. The beer itself is quite a flat beer as opposed to the more mass produced brand names that are full of bubbles; so one for the real ale drinkers. Personally it's not my favourite local brewery in terms of taste - but then we all like different things and as they've been going for a while now, they must have a client base who thinks differently to me!

Folkestone's Bewitching Charity Shop

I was taking pictures of shops in Folkestone for a local history project and came across the Pilgrims Hospice shop in Rendezvous Street - a Christian based and very worthy charity providing care primarily for the terminally ill -whose shop is closed for refurbishment.

Well it looks like the owners, or the children of the tenant above haven't taken down their Halloween decorations from last year yet! And perhaps they should stay up all year round as it's so nice to see something handmade rather than shop bought.

John Dies At The End

At last, the new movie from Don Coscarelli of Phantasm fame! I'm guessing it may go straight to DVD in the UK, but from the trailer it certainly looks worth a punt. Let's hope it lives up to 'Bubba Ho-Tep', the 'Phantasm' quadrilogy and the amazing 'Kenny & Co.'

Horsemeat warning

Following the decision by supermarkets such as Lidl, Aldi and Tesco, and food producer Findus to withdraw certain beef products such as burgers and lasagna due to them containing up to 100% horsemeat instead of beef - consumers are now being advised to check all frozen vegetarian products for traces of uniquorn!

Doctor Who in crochet!

I saw this on a Dr Who fan website and must say well done to Allison Hoffman of Texas for making all 11 incarnations of the Doctor plus his TARDIS.
