The Clangles & a witch - Small Films exhibition

I had some time to kill in Canterbury City Centre over the last Bank Holiday and so popped into The Beaney - Canterbury's museum an gallery in the centre of its High Street. Primarily my vsit was down to seeing a poster advertising a Rupert The Bear exhibition that was only on for a limited time (until October), as Rupert's creator Mary Tourtel lived in Canterbury and the bear celebrated its centenary in 2020 during lockdown.

However upon venturing upstairs I came across something even better... a whole room devoted to the works of local children's animated films - Small Films. The cabinets on the walls are lined with articats and illustrations from all the various programmes throughout the years including Hoggin The Nog and Ivor The Engine. But, taking centre space are display cabinets containing Bagpuss, The Clangers and The Pogles with the amazing witch that scared children when it first was shown on TV.
