Well, the sun shone this time around after the washout that was Day of Syn 2014. And there were a few notable differences this time around, probably in that it seemed that there were a few more new blood helping to run things and replenish the society's members that have moved or passed on. But also in changes of location. Firstly, as The Ship Inn was closed for refurbishment, the introduction of the characters and first round of Morris Dancing took place outside the New Hall opposite the church. Let's hope this continues as it had a lot more old world charm - apart from the incongruous hatchback car that someone said belonged to the vicar! Also the prisoner's execution was on an area of green by the slipway rather than at the Ocean Inn. This also seemed a better location, although cramming too many of the cast onto the small green did prohibit the views of some of the spectators.
Everything else seemed to run smoothly. The battle was a success, the procession attracted a packed high street, the recreation ground was packed... and thank God, the man masquerading as Captain Jack Sparrow was relegated to a minor part in the proceedings! On a positive, he did seem to mince less this year and more muddle along as if acting out a drunk. (Editor's Note: I'm still trying to find any mention of him in Russell Thorndike's Dr Syn books!!!)
Anyway, here's quite a few photos of the event for those interested.
