May the 4th be with you...

Well, in Folkestone yesterday for the first time was a Sci-Fi themed fair held predominantly at The Grand Hotel, but with other characters popping up in the town centre, a Delorean parked up outside and a remote control R2D2 popping up in a bar. Ultimately a trade fair with plenty of comics, books, toys, hand crafted gifts, bodypainting and collectables on sale, there were also seven actors (albeit minor role actors) from the Star Wars films on hand to sign photos and a plethora of geeks dressing up as their favorite Doctor Who or sci-fi alien which made the day for the hundreds of fans who turned out. Long may such events continue to be organised. And for those that missed it, here are some pictures...

An on a really worthwhile note, at the nearest church, Holy Trinity, a concert was put on featuring Hollywood film music... with plenty of sci-fi themes... to raise money for the Rainbow Centre, a charity supporting the homeless in the town. Two further bands were due to play in the evening at local bars too.
